First you need to buy the Windows Vista install disc. Them back up your files just to be sure. Insert the disc and click install. Choose the version of Vista you have a product key for. Follow the instructions. When you get to a choose you installation, choose Upgrade. How do i change from windows xp to windows vista?
You need a computer that will support Vista and you need a Vista installation disk.
Well, if you want both operating system, go and buy Vista and install it on ur PC on a different partition than XP, and then get VISTAbootpro 3 in order to be able to boot into either one at startup.

Or, if u only want Vista, just go buy it and install it over XP (format the drive)

OR, if u want XP to look and feel like Vista, you can get WindowBlinds 6, or Vista Transformation Pack.
i think u have to buy a computer that already has vista
The easiest way is to wait until you need to replace your computer, and buy one with vista on it. It's cheaper that way and someone else will have made sure everything works with vista.

Failing that, when you put a vista disk in the drive it will tell you what to do. You have a choice of installing vista over xp - so you don't lose any files or settings - or installing vista from scratch, which means backing up your files and putting them back afterwards. It takes a few hours but you don't have to watch it.

I've just upgraded an xp desktop to vista - I had to replace the network card and the graphics and sound only worked after I upgraded to new drivers. I'm still having problems with the network, but other than that it's working fine.
Its quite simple. I didn't use any transformation packs, but I spent my time finding effects, ect. . I ended up with good results, but if you don't want to waste time looking for that, there are plenty of transformation packs on google, but be careful! You could fry your computer trying to turn it to vista when it can't handle system specs. That's why I chose separate downloads to keep my PC running smooth
Buy the upgrade version for XP users, assuming you already have a valid license for XP. First follow the top link below to see if your computer will properly run Vista.

Then visit pricewatch to see who has the best deal.

I personally wouldn't change to Vista unless your job requires it. Vista will run slower than XP on the same hardware.
buy new computer,,,or buy vista software if your computer support,,like RAM, Memory n speed..
First make sure that you meet the hardware qualifications (link below)

From there, you can buy an upgrade version for under $100 on Amazon.com.

My advice, however -- and I speak as a Windows Vista user -- is to NOT do this. Unless you know for a fact that all of your sofware is compatable with Vista, you'll find yourself frustrated when many of your programs don't work on the new platform. Unless you're ready to invest in upgrades on all of your titles, I would hold off.

Vista itself is extremely buggy (the search function, for instance, is far inferior to windows XP. You can find files with XP in five seconds. The same file can't be found at ALL with Vista)...

Windows Vista is quite possibly the worst version that Microsoft has ever put out -- even surpassing Windows ME as the biggest piece of junk that ever came down the pike.

If I didn't know any better, I would swear it was put together by Apple in a ploy to get people to buy Macs instead -- and trust me, it's done just that to a lot of people.......
