Via Regional and Language options in control panel.

Change the settings to your preferred, maybe you're set to US Keyboard and you want UK Keyboard or vice-versa, or any other combination, anyway, select the keyboard option you want to place the @ symbol where you want it.

UK Keyboard should have the @ symbol on the right hand side of the middle letters line, US keyboard has the @ symbol in use on shift 2, where the UK keyboard has speech marks.
start - control panel - regional and language - change all to uk click apply etc
control panel

date time language and region options

regional option tab

choose english uk in the drop down menu
is there an icon that says EN on your taskbar?

if so click and select english(united kingdom)
