Change OS from xp to vista?

Planning on changing XP to Vista how do I do that.Change OS from xp to vista?
Vista is the worst thing you could do, why OPT for headaches? Go for WIndows 7, if your hardware can handle it (please go 2GB RAM and not 1GB)Change OS from xp to vista?
You buy the software, insert the CD/DVD into the CD/DVD drive, boot up with it, and it will install it on your PC
Why would you want to do something like that?

Vista sucks.
don't
Recommend that you switch to Windows 7 rather than Vista, if at all. IMO XP is still best operating system.
You need the Vista installation disc. If you already have it, insert the disc into your DVD drive, restart your computer, and switch your startup settings to boot from your CD/DVD drive first. The Vista installation will begin, and it will ask you if you want to upgrade or clean install at the beginning. If you want to keep your files, settings, and programs from XP, choose the upgrade option. If you want to remove everything (you may want to backup certain files before doing this), choose to do a clean install. The install will continue for maybe 40 minutes (it varies depending on your computer), and you will then have Vista.

Note: If you are going to upgrade, you do not need to restart and boot from your CD/DVD drive, you can insert the disc while logged into your XP account and run it from there. However, you must restart and boot from your CD/DVD drive if you want to do a clean install.
