How can I change my Windows XP desktop Icons so they are in a list instead of large Icons?

The large icons use up too much space. I really just want the names with a small icon off to one side. Is there any way to accomplish this? How can I change my Windows XP desktop Icons so they are in a list instead of large Icons?

Right click while on your desktop. Click on properties. Go to the desktop tab. You can select your desktop icon size and style.
You would have to replace the icons with ones that match your background. You can do it, you have to create the image in an image edior - there are several free programs to create icons. Thoguh when you change your background it will mean having to change them, and these icons will also appear in other places such as windows explorer.
is it under Control Panel %26gt; Folder Options or Display???
open the taskmenue of your desktop and click on properties, then representation, and extended than choose the symbols from the list on the left.
Right click on a empty spot on your toll bar(the blue bar at the bottom of your screen),,then click properties,,then click start menu,,then click customise,,,then clicksmall icons...click ok,,,click apply (dont forhet this step or nothing will change)..then click ok and it will all close and be changed...hope that helps.
