See the link below for drivers for your laptop. Click on XP operating system to access the.

I have a DV 6275 and it came with a downgrade CD with XP and drivers so it may be worth ringing HP to see if you can get one for yours.

Not too sure about your error message though

Hope this helpsHow to switch my pavilion dv6255eu to XP?
For me don't switch to XP, Vista is more powerful and stylis than XP. Windows vista has more feature than windows xp. Have you ever seen an OS that enables to make your USB devices into RAM, which improves your system performance. Vista does these and called ';Ready Boost';, while XP does not support these. Vista has a Super Fetch technology which enables user to multi-task extremely, while XP does not have this that will result poor multi-tasking performance.Vista is already HD while XP is not HD Ready. In sort Vista has more power than XP

I personnaly Reccomends Windows Vista for true performance for the lastest technology
